Texas barbecue comes to Upper Kirby

Pinkerton's Barbecue's Upper Kirby location at 3801 Farnham Street is the newest member of the family, bringing post oak and mesquite smoked barbecue to one of Houston's most central neighborhoods. Just off Kirby Drive near River Oaks, Greenway Plaza, and the Highland Village shopping district, it is an easy stop for lunch, dinner, or a tray to take home. Whole hog on Saturdays

What sets Upper Kirby apart is the whole hog. Every Saturday, the team cooks a whole hog the way it is meant to be done, a rare thing to find anywhere in Texas. It is a Saturday-only tradition, and when it is gone, it is gone, so come early if you want a taste.

What we are known for

Beyond the Saturday whole hog, Upper Kirby is where Pinkerton's tries new things. The pork prime rib is a Pinkerton's original, new to the pit, alongside Copper Creek prime brisket, beef ribs, pork ribs, pork shoulder, turkey, chicken thighs, and a growing lineup of links including original, red hot, and cheddar. Specialty sandwiches include Grant's Sandwich, the one that started it all, the ManBearPig chopped beef and pork, and the Thick and Hearty with brisket, grilled onions, cheddar, bacon, and steak sauce. New sides like beef tallow fries, bourbon sweet potatoes, okra and tomatoes, and a warm biscuit round out the tray, with desserts like key lime pie and huckleberry cheesecake to finish.

Getting here and parking

The restaurant sits on Farnham Street just off Kirby Drive, minutes from River Oaks, Greenway Plaza, and Highland Village. It is easy to reach from US-59, Loop 610, and Westheimer, with parking available. It is a quick stop whether you are coming from the office or the neighborhood.
