Grant Pinkerton was born and raised in Houston, Texas, with family roots in the Hill Country and Gulf Coast. A lifelong outdoorsman with a passion for meat, fire, and Texas traditions, he graduated from Lamar High School and later earned a degree in Rhetoric and Writing from The University of Texas at Austin.
After college, Pinkerton turned that passion into Pinkerton's Barbecue, growing it from a backyard dream into one of Texas' most recognized barbecue joints. With no formal culinary training, he has earned honors including Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ Joints recognition, Forbes 30 Under 30, multiple Memphis in May wins, and national features on the Travel Channel, Food Network, and Cooking Channel.
